Friday mornings are for forest playgroup. We both enjoy traipsing about in the woods, and it certainly helps to prepare the spawn for starting forest kindergarten in April. Being Finnish, I cannot write a sentence without the inevitable "fine, but..."; here's the downside: like many activities for children, it's at the ungodly hour of 9 am. No, don't tell me kindergarten will start even earlier, I've ignored this up until now and can do so for a few months still.
But, come on, this is not winter. Look!
Behold: loot!
And then my sister-in-law and I took advantage of my spawn and made her model hats and clothes for our webshop.
Why is it that child activities are so early?! None of my motherly friends can get out of the house before 10 a.m. Some kids sleep in, then they must be fed cleaned and dressed. Oye.
ReplyDeleteSo much of what's out there is meant for early risers, whether children or parents. Which really, thoroughly, no questions about it sucks. But at least I can console myself with knowing my daughter is also a night owl, like myself and her father... imagine having to get up at the arse crack of dawn because your child thinks 6 am means playtime.
DeleteMy sister in law gets up closer to FIVE (!!!!!!) on workdays, although now she's of course on maternity leave and getting up as late as 7 or, oh my, 8. I would not function at all with a schedule like this, and no amount of melatonin supplementation makes that better. When I was working a job with shifts that began at 8, I'd get up at 7:10 and leap into my clothes, be out of the door by 7:25 with a cup of coffee, and in the tram by 7:35. I was usually sort of up and awake by noon, and then perked up a lot towards the evening so that I found it impossible to fall asleep before midnight or a bit past it. I usually had wednesdays and weekends off, so I spent those catching up on sleep.
Oh, look, a novel.
